Social Activities at LWC III

A scientific program is at the heart of the Lipedema World Congress, but some of the most valuable moments happen between sessions: in conversations over coffee, in shared meals, and during dedicated social events.

These gatherings give delegates the chance to relax, reflect on what they’ve heard, and build connections that often last well beyond the congress itself.

We’ve planned several social opportunities to help you connect with colleagues, patient advocates, and friends from around the world in the vibrant setting of Melbourne.

Welcome Reception

Thursday 11th November

Kick off the third Lipedema World Congress with our Welcome Reception on the evening before the main scientific program begins. This is your first chance to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new colleagues, and start building the conversations that will help to shape the days ahead.

The Welcome Reception also marks the official opening of the Exhibition area, giving you an early opportunity to explore the latest products, services, and innovations from our exhibiting partners in a relaxed, informal setting.

Date: Thursday 11 November 2027

Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Location: Exhibition Hall, Crown Conference Centre, Southbank

Who can attend: Registered Lipedema World Congress delegates

Delicious cocktail-style food and a selection of beverages will be served throughout the evening.

The Welcome Reception is included in your main congress registration, and additional tickets can be purchased during registration should you wish to bring a guest.

To help us plan catering and ensure we can accommodate all dietary and accessibility requirements, we ask that you indicate your attendance when you complete your registration. If your plans change, please update your RSVP via the delegate portal or by contacting us directly.

Gala Dinner

Saturday 13th November

End the congress on a high note with our Gala Dinner, a special evening designed to celebrate the connections made, the knowledge shared, and the progress achieved during the Lipedema World Congress.

The Gala Dinner is co‑hosted with the Lipoedema Australia Conference, bringing together patients, clinicians, researchers, patient advocates, and supporters for one memorable night. It’s a wonderful opportunity to mingle with colleagues from around the world, deepen existing collaborations, and make new friends in a warm and convivial atmosphere.

Date: Saturday 15 November 2027

Time: 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Location: An extraordinary Melbourne venue - we're keeping it a secret for now!

Who can attend: Registered Lipedema World Congress and Lipoedema Australia Conference delegates, and their guests

Guests will enjoy a three‑course dinner with beverages included, accompanied by a thoughtfully curated programme of entertainment that reflects the spirit of the lipoedema community. Expect an evening of laughter, inspiration, and plenty of opportunities to dance, chat, and celebrate together. Don't forget to pack your dancing shoes!

The Gala Dinner is ticketed separately from the main congress. You can add your ticket when you register, or purchase one at a later date via the delegate portal – subject to availability. As numbers are limited, we encourage you to secure your place early to avoid missing out.

Full details of the venue, dress code, and evening program will be shared with ticket holders in the lead‑up to the event. Consider this your invitation to a special night in one of Melbourne’s most distinctive settings – the exact location will be revealed soon.

Additional Social Opportunities

Friday 12th November

In addition to the Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner, we are planning additional social opportunities on Friday evening to help you make the most of your time in Melbourne.

We are exploring a range of optional experiences that showcase Melbourne’s renowned food, culture, and nightlife, including ideas such as:

  • A Yarra River dinner cruise, offering views of the city skyline and bridges while enjoying a shared meal with fellow delegates
  • Small‑group dinners at some of Melbourne’s favourite restaurants in the CBD, Southbank, and nearby laneways
  • Curated cultural or nightlife experiences (e.g., live music, comedy, or arts events) suitable for a range of interests and mobility levels

Options will be announced in the coming months, with details on costs, accessibility, and how to book. Keep an eye on this page, the delegate portal, and congress communications for updates – we have some exciting ideas in the works and can’t wait to share them with you.
